David Budesa, Senior Director, Imperium Consulting Group, is located in New York City where he leads complex property and business interruption claim engagements for policyholders across the construction, real estate, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality and energy sectors. He specializes in builder’s risk, cyber, product recall, contingent business interruption and first-party property claims, while also providing pre-loss business interruption valuations and strategic risk advisory services. David has also advised public and private entities pursuing FEMA Public Assistance funding following major catastrophes, helping clients navigate complex documentation requirements and maximize eligible recovery. In addition, he has led forensic fraud investigations for insurance claim purposes and has collaborated with his clients’ external legal counsel in support of their criminal and civil disputes.
David partners with clients to quantify complex financial losses, develop defensible claim presentations and negotiate successful recoveries. His combination of technical accounting expertise, project management experience and practical business insight helps organizations maximize insurance recoveries while minimizing disruption to operations.
With more than 15 years of experience, David has helped clients recover over $1 billion in cumulative insurance proceeds through complex claim preparation, quantification and negotiation. David collaborates closely with carriers, adjusters, engineers, forensic accountants and coverage counsel to efficiently resolve complex claims. His proactive approach to claim strategy routinely helps clients mitigate loss adjustments and maximize recoveries.
Prior to joining Imperium, David held leadership and consulting roles at several of the leading specialty insurance brokers, where he advised Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses and public sector organizations on complex insurance claims, forensic accounting matters and financial investigations.
His experience in these roles includes advising CFOs, controllers, general counsel and executive leadership on complex financial investigations, litigation support and dispute resolution matters. He also led multidisciplinary engagement teams and mentored junior professionals across multiple engagements.
